Location

The Dalmatian Coast has one of the most beautiful and untouched coast lines in the Mediterranean. The characteristics of the clear coastal water make swimming, diving, snorkelling, surfing and sailing into a true delight. The fish from these waters are especially aromatic and tender. It is sold at the local markets, and served in the local restaurants with vegetables and wine grown on the island. Lumbarda is a small town and port on the extreme eastern part of the island of Korcula. It consists of the older part above the cove Prvi Žal and the newer part beside the sea. East of the settlement is Lumbarda field, covered with red and yellow sandy soil, extremely suitable for vineyards (their famous wine is Grk). People work in agriculture, fishing, and stone-cutting. Lumbarda is six kilometers away from Korcula and connected by road with all other settlements on the island. The island has a very mild Mediterranean climate. The mean annual temperature is 16.8C, in the coldest month of January it is 9.1C, in the hottest month of July 26.9C. Daily and annual temperature differences are small, which is very favourable for agriculture and tourism.
